Faced with a growing need for child care services in the community, the Chippewa Valley Family YMCA decided to construct an addition to the existing YMCA building to accommodate an expanded child care services program. The child care facility compliments the YMCA's mission of providing services for the well being of the entire family unit.
Included in the 16,000 square foot addition were spaces for infants, crawlers, and one-to-four-year-old children. Other areas include a large-muscle room, multi-purpose room, offices, and staff lounge. The childcare facility also features a full-service preparation kitchen.
For safety and security reasons and to avoid congestion at the main entrance to the 42,000 square foot YMCA building, the child care facility has its own entrance, drop-off/pick up area and parking lot. Entrance to the building is secured with a card-activated security system and visual contact.
"During my 30 year history with SDS Architects, I can truthfully say that I have had one positive experience after another. Starting with top management, all of their staff has always dealt with our committees in a very professional manner. Everyone at SDS Architects has been very knowledgeable in every aspect of their expertise, in order to make the relationship between owner and architect beneficial to both parties."
