Darwin E. Smith Community Aquatic Center

Wittenberg, Wisconsin

30,000 Square Feet

Funded through Private Donations with a Large Portion from the Smith Family

Numerous High-Efficiency Windows Provide Generous Natural Light

The Darwin E. Smith Community Aquatic Center fulfills a lifelong dream of a local resident to create an indoor swimming facility for the greater Wittenberg area. The project was funded through private donations, with a large portion coming from the Smith family in remembrance of Darwin E. Smith, former Chairman and Chief Executive for the Kimberly-Clark Corporation.

The 30,000-square-foot facility has a 6-lane lap pool, a zero-depth plunge pool, a water slide, a whirlpool, an exercise and weight-lifting room, three classrooms, a family changing room, and men's and women's locker rooms. The extensive use of high-efficiency exterior windows provides generous natural lighting to the natatorium.

The facility is attached to the Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School and is intended to serve both the school district and the community.
