YMCA of Dodge County

Beaver Dam, Wisconsin

60,000 Square Feet

In response to the need to expand the existing aging building and to lack of site area to accommodate expansion and parking, the YMCA of Dodge County decided to relocate to a new building on an 18 acre site. The YMCA of Dodge County includes approximately 60,000 square feet of space located on two levels.

The YMCA features a 23,000 square foot aquatics area with both lap and recreational pools. The recreational pool is enhanced by a water slide that is routed outside the building to conserve interior space, expand the length of the slide and visually express the recreational aspect of the facility to passers-by.

"Tom Twohig was the architect at SDS Architects with whom we worked with directly. Tom was wonderful throughout all of the changes, including switching sites, layout, etc. As we moved to the next phase, SDS Architects helped walk the YMCA staff, volunteers, and community members through the architecture design process which resulted in a finished floor plan that included three phases to be sent out to bid. Tom and his staff worked very quickly and diligently to complete all of the necessary documents to have them available on a short time line in order to stay on pace with the bid process."

Rob Johnson, Executive Director, YMCA of Dodge County
