The loss of an aging indoor municipal swimming pool and a need for more space due to a growing membership base prompted the Door County YMCA to pursue a building expansion program at their existing facility. The 26,000 square foot aquatics facility, which is designed for both competition and recreational swimming, includes an eight-lane lap pool, a zero-depth-entry recreational pool with a waterslide, and a whirlpool. A balcony with spectator seating for 325 people, expanded locker rooms, new family change rooms and a divisible multi-purpose room to serve aerobics and other exercise programs were also included in the Door County YMCA project.

The former aerobics room was remodeled to provide more space for the Life Style Center, an area for machine and free weight programs.
