The driving force behind the 52,000 square foot Trempealeau County Courthouse remodeling project was the overcrowded conditions due to department and agency growth. The solution to the space needs called for a relocation of related departments to the same area of the building to improve efficiency and afford better service to the public. Departments with high public use were located on the first floor and courts and related departments were moved to the second floor. Courthouse security measures were incorporated to enhance the safety of the public and staff. The need for additional space was met when several Federal and State agencies moved out of the courthouse.
The project also involved extensive renovation of the mechanical, electrical systems, and telecommunications systems.
