Birchwoods Center

The Nicolet Area Technical College, Lake Julia campus is nestled in the northern Wisconsin woodlands, features a 283 acre site of heavily wooded rolling hills on the shore of Lake Julia. The Birchwoods Center is home to many NATC programs, including Criminal Justice, the Police Recruit Academy, the Building Trades Carpentry and Welding, Emergency Medical Technician training, and CPR and Fire training. The Birchwoods Center Remodeling and Addition completely remodeled the existing 10,000 square-foot facility, including all new systems, interior finishes to office and shop spaces, and new exterior finishes. The 7,000 square-foot addition consisted of 4 new classrooms, added offices, and a fire training bay.

The Birchwoods Center is LEED Gold Certified. Sustainable design strategies were used as part of the construction process and are being used in day-to-day operations of the facility. During construction, 94% of construction waste was diverted from landfills by recycling, donation and salvage. Water use is reduced by 45.2%, and annual energy performance costs will be 16% lower than the baseline, a savings of $8,500 per year.
