CVTC Learning Center

Chippewa Valley Technical College

Eau Claire, Wisconsin

14,200 Square Feet Remodeled

After three years of planning and construction, an integrated academic support center finally became reality at Chippewa Valley Technical College's Business Education Center (Eau Claire). The Learning Resource Center is the new home for four CVTC departments: the Library, Academic Services, Disability Services, and Diversity Services. Each department will provide unique services, including homework help, peer tutoring, diversity resources, and learning accommodation plans. Collectively, these services are designed to increase student success and improve retention. The LRC was created at its centralized location by remodeling approximately 14,200 square feet of recently vacated classrooms and adjacent corridors, and includes ample small group areas and informal gathering areas in addition to the more traditional bookcases and computer stations.

The new space is designed, of course, to meet student educational needs. From study skill development to diversity resources, staff are available to help students succeed. "We wanted to create a space that was designed to meet the academic needs of the students at CVTC," comments Kristen Raney, Dean of Academic Development and Services, "It's not only a beautiful space, but it's functional too."
