35,000 Square Feet Remodeled |
Faced with needs that included more space for expanding Health Occupations programs, the re-arrangement of programs for greater efficiency, and building and mechanical and electrical system upgrades, the Nicolet Area Technical College implemented expansion and remodeling projects at the Tamarack Center and the Art Tech Center buildings on the campus. The building and remodeling projects were the first completed on the Nicolet Campus in several years.
The Tamarack Center project included the addition of 7,500 square feet and remodeling of approximately 18,000 square feet of space. The Art Tech Center involved remodeling approximately 17,000 square feet. The types of spaces developed in the building and remodeling program included general classrooms, nursing labs, mock-up exams rooms, and human patient simulator rooms serving the Health Occupations programs. Other spaces included 2D and 3D art studios, CAD labs, site surveying lab, graphic design lab, offices and conference rooms.
By working closely with campus administration, SDS met a key challenge that involved developing the scope of the project to stay within State statutory spending limits for new construction, remodeling and capital improvements.
All of the construction was completed during the summer break schedule. This was accomplished by taking bids in January which allowed contractors to obtain materials and equipment prior to the actual summer construction.
"Nicolet Area Technical College has worked with SDS Architects on several facilities planning and expansion projects over the past six years and their work has always been first rate. The professional staff at SDS are responsive and timely and their extensive contacts in the industry help expedit and effectively manage projects. Our experience at Nicolet College in working with SDS Architects has been extremely positive and I enthusiastically recommend their services to others."
