Sustainable buildings perform better, cost less over their life cycle, and provide a higher-quality environment for the users. Sustainable design can be incorporated through the site, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and building systems and planning. SDS is experienced in sustainable design solutions and the LEED process, with accredited individuals on staff since 2005.
LEED Accredited Professionals have the skills necessary to facilitate LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification practices in conjunction with the goals of the U.S. Green Building Council to create energy-efficient cost-savings through sustainable design and building practices.
We understand the need to be cost effective and believe that sustainability is one of the best ways to bring that effectiveness. Whether upgrading infrastructure or building a new facility, we analyze the costs associated with our actions and the costs associated with inaction. We work with our clients to offer the best solutions to their situations.
SDS Architects recently completed projects that helped the Luck School District achieve LEED Certification. Luck School District is the second school in Wisconsin to receive a LEED Certification and achieve this prestigious green building standard. The design by SDS Architects provides a 50% reduction in natural gas usage and a 45% reduction in electrical usage in the 115,600 s.f. building.
Other LEED Certification projects SDS Architects is currently designing include the Nicolet Area Technical College Birchwoods Center Addition & Remodeling (pursuing LEED Silver New Construction); the Xcel Energy Ashland Service Center (pursuing LEED Gold NC); and the Chippewa Valley Technical College, Chippewa Falls Campus (pursuing LEED EB O&M).
